The Galaxy
Saturn's Moons
The galaxy is built from Saturn's real moons, grouped into rings by their real orbital groups (Inner and Major moons first, then Trojan, Inuit, Gallic, Norse and Irregular).
The Galaxy Map
Open Galaxy to see every moon that is currently visible. You can switch between a 2D map and a 3D orbit view, filter by moon group, and click a moon to open its page. Moons are coloured by difficulty.
Base counts and claim percentages are only shown for moons you have explored. Unexplored moons show only what long-range sensors can see: group, difficulty, orbital distance and orbital period.
Exploration
Exploration is personal: another player exploring a moon does NOT open it for you.
- 1.Build a Scout ship at a Shipyard (Zone 12) base.
- 2.Crew it with 2 Sentinels. Every crew member needs at least 60% energy, and the ship needs at least 30 energy.
- 3.Launch an exploration mission from Fleet. It costs 75 Gold + 40 Electricity.
- 4.Wait for the return. Travel time is 3 hours plus 6 minutes per 10,000 km of orbital distance, capped at 60 hours.
When the Scout comes back, the moon is explored for you and you receive 100 Gold.
First Discovery
If nobody has ever explored that moon before, you are its first discoverer and receive an extra 1,000 Gold + 50 Gems (1,100 Gold and 50 Gems in total).
Moon Visas
Exploring a moon lets you see it. To claim bases on it you also need a visa for that moon:
- ›Explore the moon first.
- ›Send a Transport ship (crew: 2 Sentinels + 4 Vanguards) on a visa mission. It costs 100 Gold + 60 Electricity.
- ›Visa missions take 4.5 hours plus 6 minutes per 10,000 km, capped at 72 hours.
Visas are per moon and do not expire. Titan works differently: it uses the one-time account visa bought for 80 Gold (which also includes 1 free permit). Forged alliance moons need no visa; access comes from alliance membership.
The Orbital Barrier
Outside the Inner and Major moons, newly opened moons start under Selenite control. You can still scout an infested moon for intel, but the orbital barrier blocks every visa mission. While a moon is contested (liberation in progress), visas stay blocked until the Hive Nexus is destroyed. Once the moon is liberated, visa missions work normally. See the PvE & Aliens category for how liberation works.
Ring Unlocking
Rings open as a community. The next ring can only open once every moon in the current ring has been explored by at least one player (Titan counts as explored). When a ring opens, its moons become visible to everyone and their Selenite defenses are already in place.
Moon Pages
Each moon has its own page. Once you have explored it you see its bases and zones, claim rate, physical and orbital data, Selenite defense status and territory control.
The Civilization block shows how settled the moon is:
- ›Colonies anchored on the moon, total population, highest colony tier, and completed Moon Projects
- ›A settler roster (your own colony first, then by population) with a link to visit each colony
Players who own a base or a colony on the moon also get Moon Chat on the moon page (Titan has no Moon Chat). See the Social category.
Liveliness on the Map
Explored moons glow brighter the more colonies they hold (5 steps: 0, 1, 2 to 3, 4 to 7, 8 or more colonies), and the glow reaches further as population grows, up to the population of about one fully upgraded colony. A moon with at least one completed Moon Project also gets a ring. Unexplored moons never show this, whatever lives there.
Territory Control
Every moon has a Moon Controller: the player with the most territory points there. Points are recalculated every 6 hours:
- ›1 point per base you own on the moon (colony sites do not count)
- ›2 points per enemy base you conquered or are occupying
- ›1 point per battle victory on the moon in the last 7 days
The Moon Controller gets +10% harvest yield on that moon, a 5% tax on other players' harvests there, and reputation each time control is recalculated. The Rankings page has a Moon Controller tab.
